Open House Melbourne: Making Home event

On June 13th, we had the privilege of sharing the challenges and opportunities of delivering community housing in regional Victoria with event attendees as part of Open House Melbourne’s Making Home series.

The event was hosted at ARKit’s Factory where attendees received a guided tour of the ARKit workshop and witnessed the different stages of building and designing prefabricated homes. The tour demonstrated how this building method is an efficient and sustainable alternative to traditional on-site building practices.

Appearing alongside ARKit Architect and Senior Associate Andrew Fotia, our CEO Trudi Ray spoke about the challenges of delivering community housing outcomes at scale and how these challenges are magnified in regional Victoria.

Using the real-life example of our Horsham development they spoke about the specialty design of the homes and how ARKit’s architectural innovation has supported Haven Home Safe to deliver 25 homes, resulting in a thriving community where people have an affordable, safe and secure place to live.

The event also looked towards the future and how small second dwellings can be used to increase housing supply. Thank you to Open House Melbourne and ARKit for all their work in bringing the event together.
