Haven Home Safe’s Tenancy Plus Program is dedicated to helping public and social housing renters sustain their tenancy and reduce the risk of homelessness.
Our program engages renters in their community, offering crucial support when needed.
Haven Home Safes Tenancy Plus program supports people who:
Are establishing a new tenancy or residing in a current tenancy in public or social housing and experiencing one or more of the following barriers to maintaining their tenancy:
– high level of complexity
– tenancy is at risk of breaking down
– unsuitable housing
– advocacy support at VCAT
– advocacy with transfers of tenancy.
– residents of the Mallee, Gannawarra Shire and the Buloke Shire.
How the program works
Once referred, our staff will contact the client, we will ask questions to understand the person’s situation and support them to work through the steps to address their tenancy concerns.
Our support workers can travel locally to meet with clients.
Clients will receive assistance in addressing tenancy concerns, accessing services, and engaging with their community.
Support offered through Tenancy Plus includes:
– property condition improvement
– transfer application support
– advocacy at VCAT
– support with maintenance works
– linkages with My Aged Care or NDIS.
As well as referrals to:
– mental health support
– alcohol and other drug support
– chronic health assistance.
Referral process to access support through Tenancy Plus
– Renters can request a referral via their Housing Support Officer at DFFH.
– Local organisations can refer eligible clients via email.
– Individuals can choose to self-refer.
