Private Rental Assistance Program Plus (PRAP Plus)

PRAP Plus offers short-term practical support to help people start or maintain a private rental tenancy.

This program is not intended for people seeking crisis or emergency accommodation. It focuses on helping eligible individuals either begin a new tenancy or keep their current rental.

Support for Starting a New Tenancy

PRAP Plus can help people who are having difficulty starting a private rental tenancy.

Support includes:

  • Getting clients ready to apply for rental properties.
  • Teaching clients how to submit rental applications.
  • Helping clients know what to expect when attending a rental inspection.
  • Connecting clients with local services and community supports.
  • Teaching clients how to manage bills and budget effectively.
  • Helping clients understand how to start or end a tenancy the right way.

Support for Tenancies at Risk

If you’re already renting but are at risk of losing your home due to rent arrears, property condition, or personal challenges.

PRAP Plus can support you to:

  • Identify and address issues that may be affecting your tenancy.
  • Communicate with your real estate agent, including how to understand your rental ledger and report maintenance concerns.
  • Link in with other services and supports.
  • Advocate for yourself, including support with VCAT or speaking with your agent.
