Haven Home Safe proud to be building new homes for Robinvale community

Haven Home Safe’s (HHS) contracted builder has reached the base construction phase of a new development project in Robinvale this month. Due for completion in 2025, this project will deliver 13 new homes for people on the Victorian Housing Register.

The development includes 5 x three-bedroom homes and 8 x two-bedroom homes, each with private parking facilities. The 13 dwellings will be built to HHS’s high standards and targeted specifications that have been refined over many years to ensure a quality living experience for the people who call them home.

The homes will be built to meet a minimum 7-star energy efficiency rating and Liveable Housing Design Guideline – Silver rating. This includes double glazing to all windows, all electric appliances, solar collection system and provision for future installation of electric vehicle charging stations.

The project is co-funded by Homes Victoria under the Big Housing Build, Regional Round.

Applications to the Victorian Housing Register have shown there is strong local need for one, two, and three-bedroom social and affordable housing in Robinvale.

The completion of these homes will mean that people currently waiting on placements from the Victorian Housing Register (VHR) will have a chance to access a long-term safe, secure, and affordable home in their local community.

At Haven Home Safe we understand that where people live makes a difference to their long-term wellbeing, and we consider access to green spaces, opportunities for economic participation and making connections with local community when selecting a site. The Robinvale development will meet future resident’s needs being well-located within the heart of Robinvale’s township, within walking distance to the local hospital, health services, MVAC, shopping centres, supermarkets, and recreational reserves.

As a provider of homelessness and housing services at Haven Home Safe, we recognise the benefits a secure and affordable home has for both the individual and the wider community. The cohort of people who rely on subsidised housing (through the VHR) are varied and growing; older people, single parents, families, key workers, and those priced out of a shrinking and expensive private rental market.

In the past year Haven Home Safe has overseen developments that have provided 168 new homes for people on the VHR. We are committed to building homes which are attractive, practical, low-maintenance and a place people can be proud to call home.

Haven Home Safe is proud to advocate for more social and affordable housing in regional areas like Robinvale to support and strengthen these important Victorian communities.
