PRAP Support

The Private Rental Assistance Program (PRAP) provides people at risk of or experiencing homelessness with financial and practical assistance to establish and maintain private rental tenancies.

Financial support is offered to eligible clients to help cover the cost of:

  • rent in advance for the first month’s rent– for people trying to move into private rental from other accommodation
  • other tenancy establishment costs – such as removals and storage and basic needs
  • rent arrears – for tenants who have fallen behind in rent in their private rental accommodation

Practical assistance means providing eligible clients with:

  • information about the rental market
  • information and support in the housing search process
  • help with filling out applications for rental properties
