Mildura – Help finding a home

If you are homeless or under housing stress our Client Care team are here to help you understand your options.

Learn about the VHR

Unfortunately, there are very few social and affordable houses available in Victoria at the moment and rental vacancies are at an all time low. We are here to help you in any way we can, but it is unlikely that we will be able to provide you with a home straight away (outside of one night’s crisis accommodation).

If you are aged 26 years old and over we will work with you through an Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) appointment to learn more about you and your housing needs so we can advise what accommodation options are available.

If you are under 26 years old, please reach out to Mallee Accommodation Support Program which is the Mildura youth homeless and housing support entry point

Through an IAP appointment we will learn more about you and your housing needs so we can advise what accommodation options are available.

What to expect in an Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) appointment

During an Initial and Assessment Planning appointment we will ask you questions so we can:

  • Learn a bit more about you.
  • Understand your housing needs.
  • Identify any barriers you may be experiencing.

When we understand more about you, we can make better recommendations to help you meet your immediate needs.

This may include:

  • Assistance with accessing crisis accommodation
  • Referrals with other services.
  • Assessment for rent in arrears/rent in advance
  • Vouchers to help you with short-term needs such as food, petrol or public transport.
  • Assistance with applying for the Victorian Housing Register
