We understand the ongoing challenges people are facing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We are here to support you, and we’re doing everything we can to protect us all – our clients, tenants, staff and our community. We are still providing help and support but doing it differently as we transition to a “COVID-19 normal”.

We are committed to continuing the important work we do to help current, and new clients and tenants who need us more than ever right now.

Are you experiencing homelessness or housing crisis?

We have made these changes to our service delivery in response to COVID-19

Virtual concierge

We have installed a virtual concierge across our access points for contactless entry to protect staff and clients.

Digital financial assistance

We are offering digital vouchers where possible for Emergency Relief and material aid.

Safety protocols

We are keeping everyone safe across our sites with mandatory face coverings, social distancing, directional foot traffic, hand sanitising stations, extra cleaning, room occupancy limits and protective screens.

Free face masks

We are handing out free disposable face masks to clients who need them.

Hand sanitisers in multi-units

We’ve installed hand sanitisers in out multi-unit sites to minimise the risk of transmission.

Further Information: call-to-test for vulnerable Victorians

The Department of Health and Human Services will be assisting vulnerable Victorians in metropolitan Melbourne with in-home testing to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Access to the Call-to-Test service will be available to individuals who have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms and meet the following criteria:
  • people with an injury, chronic health issue, or frailty affecting mobility
  • people with moderate to severe physical or psychosocial disability
  • people with moderate to severe mental health or behavioural issues not otherwise classified as a psychosocial disability
  • carers for a person with moderate to severe disability.

Additional support - people with disability

Some people with disability have higher rates of health issues including chronic conditions and weakened immune system. Many people with disability rely on support and assistance from family members, carers and support workers.

Information for SIL Providers

Our access points are open 10am – 4pm daily.   Our priority remains to support people experiencing, or at risk, of homelessness.

Our offices in Bendigo, Preston, Mildura, and Geelong are open, and have a number of new COVID-19 Infection Control measures that we all must abide by.  These measures are clearly communicated by staff and signage for your safety at all of our offices. When you arrive, you will be greeted by our virtual concierge, and directed into a meeting room for a tele-consult. 

All Haven; Home, Safe offices are practising social distancing and a distance of 1.5 metres between all staff and clients, and masks must be worn at all times.

Unfortunately, our offices are no longer able to provide tea, coffee or noodles. 

If you have a fever, a cough, or a sore throat. If you have been exposed to someone diagnosed with Coronavirus (COVID-19) do not attend any Haven; Home, Safe office.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. COVID-19 is a new virus that can cause an infection in people, including a severe respiratory illness. The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.

COVID-19 spreads through close contact with an infected person; mostly face-to-face or within a household. It cannot jump across a room or be carried for long distances in the air so we should all go about our lives as normal.

Many people who contract COVID–19 will suffer only mild symptoms. However early indications are that the elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions are more at risk of experiencing severe symptoms. 

The most common coronavirus symptoms reported include:

  • Fever
  • Breathing difficulties such as breathlessness
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue or tiredness.
