CEO Message

As we come to the end of 2022, we pause to reflect on the year that was. We are proud of what we have achieved with our clients, staff, partners and communities.
Some of the work we’ve done this year includes:
– 237 Households supported through the Homeless to a Home program
– 2226 Homes managed
– 3410 Food vouchers provided
– 42 Partnerships established
– 28 Housing and Homelessness Support Programs delivered
– 8272 people supported with homelessness support programs

Across 2022 we have also simplified how we work so you can access the services and support you need in an easy way. In 2023 we will continue to focus on this and welcome your feedback to make sure we’re doing a good job. Thank you for your strength and for looking after yourselves and each other again this year.

Extra Support this Holiday Season

The holiday season can be a difficult time for many people and families.

If you need some extra support to get through this holiday season, there are organisations who can help. We’ve pulled together a list of resources you might find helpful including hampers and food support. Learn more here.

Celebrate the New Year with your Neighbours

We have 3 x $100 vouchers to support you to host a neighbourhood event to help kick off 2023.

Some ideas for an event could be a picnic, morning tea, BBQ or a hallway dinner. The event should be planned for early January or February 2023.

It does not have to be with other HHS tenants. Still, we encourage people living in HHS multi-residential sites to apply.

Apply here before 5pm, Monday 2nd January 2023
Winners will be drawn at random and emailed their vouchers Friday 6th January.

HHS Closed for the Public Holidays

We will be closed for the upcoming public holidays.

Please note that this year many holidays fall on a weekend, so the public holiday is held during the week.

– Boxing Day public holiday is Monday 26th December 2022
– Christmas Day public holiday is Tuesday 27 December 2022
– New Years Day public holiday is Monday 2 January 2023

We are open our usual hours during the holiday season. If you have urgent maintenance repairs, call 1300 100 242 for our after-hours service.

Meet Matt

Matt is Haven Home Safe’s recently promoted Senior Leader of Housing.

Matt is based in the Mildura office but also looks after the housing teams across the organisation, including Mildura, Bendigo, Metro and Barwon South West.

What do you enjoy most about working at HHS?

I really love the work, the people that I work with on a daily basis and our clients. I especially enjoy this time of year in housing when we are able to get people into houses in time for Christmas.

What are 5 things we may not know about you?

I’m a massive sports fan. Just about all of it. From Lawn bowls to cricket, AFL to the EPL. You name it and I’ve probably watched it, played it, or want to know more about it.
The best thing about having a son is that I can still watch wrestling without being ridiculed because I still like it too 😊
I am a bit of a gamer, love playing my PS5 and Football Manager on my laptop.
I have 2 dogs. Fred the beagle and Genevieve the german short haired pointer
I think I’m in a minority as I like both Star Trek and Star Wars (the Disney channel is on a lot at my house)

Don’t forget to apply for the State Government’s $250 energy voucher

If you haven’t yet; don’t forget to apply for the Victorian Government’s $250 Power Saving Bonus. This program will provide a once-off payment of $250 to ease cost-of-living pressures and encourage Victorians to compare their household energy prices and save money on their bills.
