CEO Ken Marchingo AM to farewell Haven; Home, Safe on January 17, 2021

Dear Stakeholders

We wish to advise you, after many years of significant service, that our CEO Ken Marchingo AM has drawn to a close his role as Chief Executive Officer at Haven; Home, Safe, effective 17 January 2021.

As many of you know, Ken has worked in the sector for many decades and is a tireless advocate for those most vulnerable in our community. It is with the utmost thanks that the Board farewells Ken. His commitment and dedication to the organisation is unsurpassed and the legacy Ken leaves has placed Haven: Home, Safe in a wonderful position to continue to provide affordable rental housing and homelessness services to many.

Ken has taken Haven; Home, Safe from its doors opening as Loddon Mallee Housing Services Limited to a statewide organisation of positive impact and outcomes for many people in need of the support services and provision of a safe place to call home. We acknowledge Ken for his significant commitment not only to the organisation but to the broader sector and community.

“It’s been my greatest honour to be a foundation stone of the organisation and to have had the opportunity of nearly three decades of commitment to better social outcomes” said Ken. “It’s been an extraordinary journey for Haven; Home, Safe and its clients. Over the many years I have been part of a remarkable story in which every individual possible is given the right to a safe home – not just a house. After committing my professional life both to the people in our region and then across Victoria more broadly, I look forward to watching the organisation go from strength to strength in this next exciting but challenging chapter.”

Board Chair Damien Tangey added: “Over the past 26 years, Ken has been instrumental in leading Haven; Home Safe and has been an unrelenting champion for the homeless. He has committed his life to reducing homelessness and advocating respect and equality for people from all walks of life. Ken’s legacy is woven into the fabric of our organisation and I am personally thankful for his service over the many years.”

From 18 January 2021, Trudi Ray, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of Acting CEO.

For now, the Board would like to take this opportunity to again thank Ken for his incredible contribution to Haven; Home, Safe and for his commitment to the broader community over many years.
