VALE Antoinette G Danaher

Media Release – February 16, 2018

The Board of Directors of Haven; Home, Safe today announced with deep sadness the passing of former long-serving Director and Chair Antoinette Danaher after a short battle with cancer.

Antoinette passed away last night surrounded by family and friends in Lorne, a town she loved as much as Bendigo.

Antoinette Danaher

A highly-respected and talented marketing and communications specialist, strategic planner and business facilitator, Antoinette was a larger than life character who lived her life by the mantra, “leave everything better than you found it”.

She joined the Board in 2002 and served as Chair from 2007 to 2012 before retiring in 2015.  It was Antoinette who recruited current Chair Sue Clarke to the Board in 2010.

“For those of us who knew her, this is certainly time to reflect and rejoice in Antoinette’s leadership, not only as Chair of HHS but as a strong voice for social justice and equality in the housing community,” Sue said.

HHS CEO Ken Marchingo AM described Antoinette as “fearless with the courage to let us (the organisation) take opportunities that met our purpose”.

During her tenure as Chair, the organisation doubled in size through the rapid expansion of its property portfolio during Nation Building, relocated to new premises in Forest Street and rebranded to become Haven; Home, Safe.

“She was a great Director, a formidable Chair, but mostly a very dear friend; she will be sadly missed by so many although fondly remembered by all,” Ken said.
